Let the forest be our healer. In Grännäs, Valdemarsvik, at my mother-in-law Hedwig. Co-grief. Just took a forest therapy walk, and an evening tea after that. Now in bed. We will be here until Wednesday. Photos from back and front view from the house, “Hedwigsborg” – Castle of Hedwig. Sleep, holy sleep, come! And let Mika come through in my dreams tonight to hear him say he is ok! We survived – barely – the first night without Mika. Sleep came to us against all odds, in rounds of three. Mantras help! Yesterday every single breath was a victory against…
Mika has left us, at 11.34 Swedish Summer Time. I am out of words. I only have a scream. Be with us. Mika, wherever you are now. I love you forever!
After a day at work, and then with Mika and Karin at the hospital, just got home with a refill of cat food! Hungry kitteh happy!
This morning we found Mika with fever. So when we went to the hospital to deliver his daily dose of cortisone, we asked them to check it out. Tests showed no infection. But with fever at 39.2 C, they decided to keep him overnight for observation and give him antibiotics every sixth hour from 1pm. I am home with the cats, Karin is at the hospital. All will be fine! Here Mika is at the play therapy.
Today’s dinner. On the balcony.
So great being home again, after the days at the hospital. Now, let’s hope the treatment will work!
One of the strongest things to deal with at the hospital, and wait for e. g. those five hours of ATG infusion to sink in, is boredom. Here, with the help of good old Yatzy! All fine, tomorrow last treatment!
Now we have a diagnosis. Mika has aplastic anemia. It’s a serious blood disease, where his bone marrow doesn’t produce blood cells. No red, no white, no trombocytes. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aplastic_anemia Next week they will start with ATG treatment, and start to look after a donor of stem cells for a bone marrow transplant. A process of months ahead. We’re definitely in need of mental and moral support and lots of prayers. We keep strong! We will make it!
While I was working today, Karin took Mika to the hospital for a trombocyte transfusion. The back has some petechiae and bruises, hopefully getting better now, beyond transfusion.
Happy mum and little kid.
Today Hedwig and Jippii came for a visit. Since we were at the hospital June 26, my mother-in-law couldn’t celebrate my birthday. Done today! Waffles with jam and cream, a good dinner and some presents (in pic). Thank you Hedwig!
Did it today. The annual together-with-my-kids Birthday Photo at the playground terrace at the kiddie hospital in Linköping, with Mika undergoing investigation. Not the regular place to celebrate. But – love is everywhere! Thanks for a loveful b-day, family!
